Meryl Streep’s Daughter Mamie Gummer Files for Divorce from Second Husband

Meryl Streep’s eldest daughter Mamie Gummer is heading for a divorce.

Mamie, 41, who Streep, 75, shares with estranged husband Don Gummer, filed for divorce from Mehar Sethi on Thursday, Feb. 6, according to documents obtained by PEOPLE.

The star of The Good Wife listed irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split, which actually happened a year-and-a-half ago, as she listed their date of separation as May 6, 2023.

The couple shares son Peter, 5, and daughter Mary, 3, and Mamie requested joint physical and legal custody of them in the filing. She is also seeking spousal support from her ex.

Mamie wed Sethi — a screenwriter who has worked on It’s Always Sunny, Rick and Morty and BoJack Horseman — on Feb. 2, 2019. He was the actress’ second husband.

She was previously married to Benjamin Walker from 2011 to 2013. Walker went on to marry Kaya Scodelario in 2015, with whom he shares two children, but they split last year.

The news of Streep’s daughter’s divorce comes just over a year after PEOPLE confirmed that the Only Murders in the Building actress and her husband of 45 years, Don, had quietly separated six years ago.

“Don Gummer and Meryl Streep have been separated for more than 6 years, and while they will always care for each other, they have chosen lives apart,” a representative for Streep said in a statement.

The couple, who wed in 1978, share Mamie as well as daughters Grace Gummer, 38, and Louisa Jacobson, 33, and son Henry Wolfe, 45.
