I’m a tiny gal. At 4-foot-11, I rely on step stools, platform heels, and my 6-foot-2 fiancé to give me that extra boost. Life’s not harder at my small stature (you just have to get creative!), but finding good jeans that fit is another story. You’ll often find me rolling up the hems of my pants and wearing platform sneakers to keep my denim from dragging on the floor. While majorly cuffed silhouettes are super trendy right now, some styles deserve to be left alone. Case in point: flared jeans.

Flare pants are having a major resurgence thanks to celebrities like Kendrick Lamar, Meghan Markle, and Reese Witherspoon wearing the groovy style out and about. While the retro jeans are super flattering, they pool at the bottom for tiny folks. Sure, a quick trip to the tailor could fix the problem, but you risk taking away from the iconic shape that creates a leg-elongating optical illusion. The solution? Opting for petite flare-leg jeans with shorter inseams.

Just Black Denim Frayed Crop Flare Jeans

Just Black Denim

One of my favorite brands for kick-out petites is Just Black Denim. I instantly fell in love with the brand’s Cropped Denim Flare Jeans that are as stretchy and comfy as sweatpants, but way more sexy. They’re form-fitting from the hips to the thighs, give the booty a great lift, and offer a soft wide leg that’s not too dramatic.

Mother Lil Hustler Frayed Ankle Jeans

Nordstrom

Mother is often found at the top of many denim lists and worn by stars like Jennifer Lopez—but the Hollywood-approved pants are often way too huge for me. So, I just about fell out of my seat when Mother introduced its petite line. The lightwashed Lil Hustler Ankle Jeans are perfect for pairing with vibrant and pastels hues, including a frayed ankle for a casual look. I can never turn down a waist-cinching high rise, and the notable “M” logo lets everyone know you’re a fashionista through-and-through.

NYDJ Petite Teresa Wide-Leg Ankle Jeans

NYDJ

NYDJ had me swooning after Oprah gave the brand her stamp of approval, but after I tried the brand’s petite flares, I was even more obsessed. The Teresa Wide-Leg Ankle Jeans are a bit slouchier without compromising on length. Such exaggerated bottoms look great with both wedges and sneakers, while the criss-cross smoothing panel lifts and tucks the silhouette.

Madewell Petite Flared Wide-Leg Crop Jeans

Madewell

I own too many Madewell jeans to count, and its petite bottoms—including its extra-flowy styles—are some of my favorites. This billowy, cropped design is for those that want to be a little extra, so enjoy a stretchy high-rise, large back pockets, and distressed bottom.

Pistola Lennon High-Waist Ankle Bootcut Jeans

Nordstrom

I know a good deal when I see one, and these on-sale petite Pistola jeans are worth it. The vintage worn-in details separate it from the pack, while slightly stretchy fabric makes sure you’re comfortable. My favorite part has to be the pressed crease, though.
