The Atlanta Braves posted with a clip of Ronald Acuña Jr absolutely hammering the ball and a caption: “Merlin. This ball is hammered. Enjoy it. Watch it. Come back.” And-oh, did those people have opinions-arguments went on, hype became the seal of the day, and some just bickered about pitch selection. Typical baseball Twitter.

Acuña’s coming back from the injury has been such a storyline this season, and this particular blast keeps building up the myth. One fan summed up the whole moment perfectly: “Ohhh how the sport of baseball missed this man.” Another one said, “What the hell was this pitch? As if the pitcher just served a meatball on a silver platter.”
Some of the fans weren’t celebrating, though. Staying true to the Philadelphia tradition, one guy dropped: “No one cares.” This then unleashed a flap of responses. One of the responses came in the form of a retort: “Imagine being an opposing fan going onto another teams account and immediately saying ‘No-one cares’ on a highlight video.” An irony was noted by a third person: “Says the guy that literally keeps posting commenting on this post… Seems like somebody cares.”
The most heated debate, however, started with Braves’ fans themselves. Some started questioning management of the team. “This franchise is a joke. We are just now calling this guy up?” Loses another, frustrated. “Y’all messed up letting him come back,” added one who expressed his disapproval of rushing Acuña’s comeback from injury.
Medical-concerns-became-a-topic-as-well, with one keen observer noting, “The left ACL tear meant another year of rest for the right knee too, and his batting anchor leg.” Meanwhile, the criticism was set to Acuña’s pause-type batting stance: “Eventually, someone’s going to just drill him in the ribs until he stops that godforsaken pause between second and third.”
Through all the clamoring, one thing shadows all-the Acuña is a game-changer. In the light of some casual supporters who have offered themselves to start donating toward his contract extension, while the others keep up the tough guy act during game time and secretly obsess over him, the Braves superstar is must-watch television every time he steps into the batter’s box.
This social media bunch surely understands what they’re doing with these posts. Short, hype captions that leave the video to do the talking-The madness then ensues in the comment section. It is a brilliant plan; the numbers don’t lie. Even the haters cannot help but get sucked in-until this becomes the algorithm’s best promotion.

During the rest of the Braves’ playoff push, all eyes would be on Acuña to see if he could keep this power surge alive. If this one is any sign, then any pitcher would be second-guessing of throwing anything hittable in his direction. Or maybe they should-it’s a blessing in disguise that the moment of the moonshot will still be Acuña and the game will be won in the replies.
