Recently, Collin Rugg took to the social media to sneak out another short video of his latest escapade-an interesting sailing trip with an unorthodox entourage. On the official social media account, he wrote, “Got a tow-star escort. Coyne tow-star. Super cool,” and the followers were mostly amused and intrigued.

Very few lines were spilled from the Rugg camp, but the mention of the tow-star escort could almost imply that he possibly enjoyed some lavish company over water, could be some Coast Guard vessel or just some official vessel escorting him in safe passage. The tone reflected a laid-back, winning moment for him, which gave the internet enough fodder to stir up a massive frenzy.

One user joked, “Every corporate desk slave rooting for him,” describing the envy of the millions stuck looking at their bleak routines while Rugg is out there living the dream. There was another user who raised a more relevant concern: “Don’t lose kitty when you dock!” insinuating that Rugg, for whatever reasons, did have a cat with him.

The cat comments stirred up conversation. “That poor cat….imagine the nausea,” remarked one fan, followed by another: “Shows ya how pathetic I am… the cat can handle the waves & motion sickness better than I can.” Obviously, the kitty was getting some spotlight of its own there.

Philosophical pondering was not all the fun for a few. “Ah, the allure of ‘quitting the rat race’ and embracing the open sea,” mused one commenter, quoting Robert Louis Stevenson. “How quaint. I trust he’s also prepared for the emotional tides, which are often far rougher than the physical ones.”

And then came the anti-philosophers. “I’d absolutely lose my shit if the coast guard came and messed up my solo journey,” expostulated one frustrated user. “A guy can’t even sail in the middle of the ocean without government dogs watching you.”

Half laughter, half brainstorming, but what was for sure was that Rugg’s post hit a sore spot somewhere quite deep. Whether it was worrying about his cat from his adventures, or pondering the prospect of an escorted sail, the people engagement was there.

Meanwhile, the chatter was of no consequence to Rugg, who was out there paddleboarding-theoretically and literally. If anything, the comments only suggest that those tracking his movements would gladly join him if it could ever be made possible, albeit behind a screen.

So, what’s next on the agenda for Collin Rugg? If his posts mean anything, then it will be more adventure, followed by more Internet reactions-hilarious, heartfelt, and sometimes downright harsh. Yet one thing goes down for sure-he’s definitely not going into the sunset of obscurity anytime soon.
