Lana Del Rey’s 2025 Met Gala Look Has a Secret Alligator Detail

Lana Del Rey isn’t beating the alligator bride accusations; she’s embracing them—just take it from her look at the 2025 Met Gala. The singer accessorized her drop-waist gown with gold alligator hair clips, a nod to her husband Jeremy Dufrene’s profession.

Del Rey wore a custom Valentino creation designed by the label’s newest creative director, Alessandro Michele. Featuring a sheer lace back and feather plumes, the “Henry, Come On” singer’s gown also included a bow tied at the shoulder.

Del Rey’s chestnut locks were styled in a retro-inspired updo complete with pin curls. Her makeup, meanwhile, consisted of winged eyeliner and a nude lip.

Del Rey and Dufrene, an airboat captain who guides alligator tours on the Louisiana bayou, tied the knot last fall. Earlier on Monday, Del Rey posted a rare photo with her spouse, smooching him in a selfie included in her latest Instagram carousel. She appeared to tease her Met Gala look, too, showing off a pair of sheer Valentino underwear and floral butter yellow pumps.

This year marks Del Rey’s fourth appearance at the Met Gala. Last year, she memorably walked the carpet in a custom Alexander McQueen look referencing the British designer’s archives. Draped in a sheer canopy, her nude gown was adorned with faux branches. Del Rey’s hoof-shaped heels also stole the show.

Based on Monica Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity, the Met’s annual Costume Institute exhibit pays homage to Black menswear designers and trendsetters. According to Vogue, the exhibit will feature 12 sections: Ownership, Presence, Distinction, Disguise, Freedom, Champion, Respectability, Jook, Heritage, Beauty, Cool, and Cosmopolitanism. Co-chairs of the 2025 gala include Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James named honorary chair.
