In a supreme breakage of rules, Machine Gun Kelly—the rapper turned rockstar by his glamour with little incident of false rebellion—has just brought out a new release that was not quite expected, and certainly not planned, much to the public interest. Loud Daily describes this song as having very touching lyrics about love and escape, with the tune more like a pop ballad than anything he usually does.

These go: “Your name is Neon Light and the sky with darkness surrounds us / Let’s sleep this town here and marry go to Vegas to create this stout job / Tell me where you say this dance / I feel my knees might be weak beneath me / I know this might be our last.” With the changes of styles, the people went berserk online in all kinds of extremities, from praising to utter confusion.
One user mocked: “His true white side came out, he’s definitely a rock star and not a rapper,” while another said in no uncertain terms: “corny and pathetic.” Some later came to defend the changes with a comment like “Not my taste and definitely corny, but not bad. Stuff like this does crazy numbers—there’s a huge audience for it.”

Unbelieve was, somehow, the common reaction. “This is a 35-year-old man,” said another, and yet another opinion said something similar to the Backstreet Boys. Then came the spicy comment which re-opened one more debate about Machine Gun Kelly‘s much-debated rap battle with Eminem: “Eminem buried this guy with a Killshot,” with the reply coming back: “No, no he did not.”
Others shot down the theories behind why he’s making this track: “He’s clearly widening his fan base,” said one. “You can’t be a one-trick pony in the entertainment business.” One joked: “It’s giving tryna get Megan back,” referring to his former relationship with Megan Fox.
However much these reactions vary, there is a certain consensus that Machine Gun Kelly has truly mastered the art of remaining in the spotlight. Whether this new branch is simply a detour or the birth of a whole new revolution is something the internet won’t stop talking about for a while.

Seriously? Love or hate him, just the fact that his career moves are still being debated years after those biggest controversies seals that one truth—Machine Gun Kelly sure knows how to pitch people against one another.
