Set in the limelight, it is truly the show to watch all over the nation as excited comments from all over the country fill the comment section. Funny remarks such as, ‘Since Aunty Mercy don dey sabi dance…we never rest,’ indicated renewed confidence in the actress on the dance floor. The movie was labeled ‘dupe’-`dupe’ meaning lit or amazing in Nigerian slang, while some others looked forward to when the movie was going to start showing in their towns; ‘Pls when is it coming to Ilorin cinema?’
Being very well-known in Nollywood mostly for many intense characters, this is definitely a steal and special moment for Mercy Aigbe to cherish and showcase the more fun and laid-back side of her career. The post was evidence that the closeness of Mercy and Efe Irele, the producer, whom she also graciously complimented with a ‘Welldone @efeirele you are doing well…love you.’ The videos show the presence of their off-camera chemistry—one is almost for sure behind-the-scenes scant promotion for the film.
Some were just never going to let Mummy GO; they went ahead and mocked Mercy’s dancing skills too. One fan even says: ‘We never hear word for this timeline since my queen don sabi dance,’ meaning they were now trending because of her dancing. Others were praising her style: shout-outs to her stylist for killing the traditional Aso Ebi look.
The buzzing reactions towards the movie and post indicate Mercy Aigbe has become a cultural moment. In either case—in support of her acting career or her dancing or simply the Goddess energy—the fans are here for her. And since the airings are going, this hilarious witchy-movie ride isn’t going to be wrapped up anytime soon.
