Swift hasn’t been to the Met Gala in nearly a decade, as recent reports suggest that she and her boyfriend of two years are enjoying some downtime out of the public eye, per Page Six. Following the end of football season and Swift’s Eras Tour, the couple has been spending time with family, whipping up home-cooked meals and watching movies.
“This is such a nice escape for them to finally be able to stay out of the limelight for a bit before they eventually have to get out in the public eye again due to their careers,” said a source close to the couple. “This time away from the spotlight has been so refreshing for Taylor and Travis. They really cherish this time while they can because they know it can’t last forever.”

This year’s Met Gala theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” is based on Monica Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. Co-chairs of the 2025 gala include Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo, A$AP Rocky, and Anna Wintour, with LeBron James named honorary chair.
Swift last attended the Met Gala in 2016. The pop star embodied the event’s futuristic theme—entitled “Manus x Machina: Fashion In an Age of Technology”—in a cutout Louis Vuitton minidress featuring a silver sequined snakeskin pattern. Swift debuted a platinum blonde bob and served as a co-chair alongside Wintour, Idris Elba, and Apple’s Chief Design Officer Jonathan Ive.
